Wound Care

At our rehabilitative center, it is our goal to help each of our patients return to the fullness of life they once enjoyed. Whether that means recovering from a surgical wound or a pressure ulcer, we know that varying degrees of pain and suffering can hold people back from performing day to day tasks. By providing a myriad of therapeutic treatments and education regarding the care of certain wounds, we hope to provide those in discomfort with an environment that will help produce the most complete healing process possible.

Types of Wounds

Depending on the type of accident or procedure that caused the wound, there can be varying degrees of injury. Every day people may experience minor scrapes and bruises that are merely superficial, bringing slight discomfort, but not entirely inhibiting their life. When wounds occur that go down into the layers of the skin, these are considered deep abrasions and can go so far as to hit all the way to the muscle or bone.

Pressure sores can occur whenever there is little blood supply getting to the skin due to chronic pressure in a certain area. Bed sores are a common example of pressure sores as well as diabetic ulcers. Burn victims can also experience an extensive amount of recovery time, depending on the degree of the burn. Those who have suffered from 3rd or 4th degree burns may need numerous surgical procedures and therapy to get back to their normal way of life. Additionally these surgeries may cause additional slowly healing wounds that need extra care and treatment.

Obtaining the Proper Care

Our Nevada physical therapists are highly qualified and can assist individuals suffering from nearly any kind of long-term wound care. They are each trained not only in how to assess and treat various wounds, but also provide each patient with the proper education on how to care for their wounds in the future. Informing each patient and their family members and offering them the proper tools on how to apply appropriate dressings, it allows for the individual to receive complete attention both at our facility and at home.

We can pursue hydrotherapy, debridement techniques and other forms of therapy for an all-encompassing treatment to allow for full recovery. Each patient is a top priority and we maintain a close relationship between our therapists, the patient and the patient's physician to help ensure the proper and successful healing of all wounds.
